Other-directed: tomorrow night: Joshua Clover (aka
jane dark) at Danny's, with songwriter/poet Franklin Bruno.
Self-directed: at Kerri's recommendation, I read Juliana Spahr's new book, This Connection of Everyone With Lungs, and I just wrote up a review of it and posted it here.

hey jeremy/all, sorry i've been so out of it. damn sorry i missed the danny's last week.. virus, sleeping, fever, etc. i even missed my own discrete thing this past monday. anyone who went to the french event at the 3 arts, please report in! more soon. and come to my reading in an hour if you have a chance- 1226 Ainslie (library). i think a comment on this blog from lady miss stacy of the going east flashed across my diminished radar in the last few days as well. hello! wait. i'll do this in a more organized fashion later.
Jeremy, the element of TCOEWL that posits collective guilt as an extension of the interconnectedness struck me as the most compelling aspect of her project as well. To say we're connected to and accountable for the myriad perfected forms of human cruelty around the world seems a necessary evolutionary step in political thinking from the blanket peace statements that served the 60's.
I'm trying to write an experimental novel that deals with the same ideas.
